About TAMILNADU POST OFFICE: Postal system in Tamilnadu originated during the days of the East India Company. What started as a scheme to convey the mails of the East India Company and its servants in the erstwhile Madras, has now grown into a mammoth system handling over 80 lakhs of mail per day. In 1789, arrangements were made for despatch of letters to Bombay through Masulipatnam and through Nizam's dominion. The letters were dispatched once in a week to Masulipatnam and from there to Bombay.
Exam Details: Tamilnadu Postal Circle has invited notification for recruitment of 621 Postal Assistant and Sorting Assistant Vacancies. Eligible candidates can apply through prescribed application format on or before 01/10/2012. Reorganization of the States resulted in carving Andhra, Karnataka and Kerala Postal Circles out of the composite Madras Circle. The present day Tamilnadu Postal Circle came into being in the year 1961.
Exam Pattern: The examination will be of two parts : -
Part-1- Aptitude Test -100 marks
Part-2- Computer/ Typing Test
Part-A: General Knowledge- In this section questions are based on Current Events, Economics, General Politics, Geography, History, Indian Constitution, Science Environment etc.
Part- B: Mathematics- Number System, Simplification, Decimals, Corrections, Percentage, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Average.
Part-C: English: Grammar, Prepositions, Adverb, Conjunction, Direct/ Indirect Speech, Singular and Plural, Tenses, Antonyms/ Synonyms etc.
Part-D: Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning.
Part-2: Computer/ Typing Test: this test will be of 30 minutes duration. In this test candidates have to type a one passage of 450 words in English or 375 words in Hindi.
How to get the application Form: Interested Candidates can apply through prescribed application format available at all Head Post offices and identified Post offices in the Circles. Dully filled application form along with Copies of relevant certificates and original receipt of ACG-67/UCR issued by the identified Post Office of this Circle towards payment of Examination fee have to be sent to “Direct Recruitment Cell, New Delhi HO, New Delhi-110001″ on or before 01/10/2012 through Speed Post/Registered Post of India Post only.
