About IFS:
The Indian Forest Service (abbreviated as IFS) is the Forestry service of India. It is one of the three All India Services of the Government of India. Its employees are recruited by the national government but serve under the state governments or Central Government. India was one of the first in the world to introduce scientific forest management. In 1864, the British Raj established the Imperial Forest Department. In 1866 Dr. Dietrich Brandise, a German forest officer, was appointed Inspector General of Forests.

 

Exam Details: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited notification against recruitment of 85 various vacancies through Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination, 2012. Eligible candidates can apply online on 14 May 2012. The Imperial Forestry Service was organized subordinate to the Imperial Forest Department in 1867. The British colonial government also constituted provincial forest services and executive and subordinate services similar to the forest administrative hierarchy used today.


How to get the application Form: Eligible Candidates can apply through online mode, for which they need to log on to UPSC website www.upsconline.nic.in. Applications must be submitted online on 14/05/2012.

Instructions for Online Application:

1.
Candidates should uploaded their scanned photo and signature.

2.
Log on to www.upsconline.nic.in

3.
This will provide you with Registration ID, retain it.

4.
To fill up Part-II of Application, Registration Number and Date of Birth must be entered.

5.
Fill all marked details carefully and submit the Application on or before 14/05/2012.

 

Exam Pattern: Indian forest service (IFS) exam conducts union public service commission (upsc) once in a year for recruiting officers for the Indian forest service. The candidates who are interested and eligible apply through online and offline application mode .The selection process of IFS given below.

IFS Exam consists in 2 stages.

1)
Written examination

2)
Interview/Personality Test


1.) Written examination:
In IFS exam paper-I will be General English for 300 maximum marks, paper-II General knowledge for 300 maximum marks .paper-III ,IV ,V ,VI will be from any 2 optional subjects selected by the candidate with each optional subject having 2 paper, each paper will be for 200 marks Total the written exam test for IFS exam will be for 1400 marks .All the questions given in conventional (essay)type and English language only .Time duration for each paper 3.00 hours (180 minutes).

2.) Interview:
The written exam qualified candidates called for Interview / personality test based on the personal suitability of the candidate for the service .Interview will carry 300 marks .They asked questions General knowledge, academy study details, modern current thoughts, intellectual curiosity, critical powers of observation and assimilation, balance of judgment, alertness of mind, leadership qualities, integrity of character, topographical sense, love for out-door life and the desire to explore unknown and out of way places.

Candidates must be physically fit and medically according to the physical standards for admission to IFS.
