Madras University is
one of the oldest and largest universities’ of South India. The university is
the third oldest university after university of Calcutta and university of
Mumbai. The university is situated in Tamil Nadu and it has a total of six
campuses. The university offers several courses in a variety of disciplines

Colleges
under MU:
The Madras University
has a total of six campuses which are spread all over the state of Tamil Nadu.
These are:
1. Chepauk,
2. Marina,
3. Guindy,
4. Taramani.
These campuses have
different colleges attached with it that excel in imparting education for
different areas of disciplines. Some of the colleges that are attached with the
Chepauk campus are:, School of Social Sciences, School of Political and
International Studies, School of Economics, School of Historical Studies etc. School
of Tamil and other Dravidian Languages, School of Sanskrit and other Indian
Languages and School of Chemical Sciences, School of Physical Sciences are some
of the colleges attached with the Marina and Guindy campuses have colleges.

also offers admission through the distance mode of education for the students
residing outside Madras in its School of Distance Education. The courses offered

The admissions are open
for admission through the distance mode of education in all courses. For
pursuing admission in higher education from University of Madras the applicants
should approach the university department, colleges and institutions for
obtaining application form and Brochure in order to know the course structure
and fees information. For those applicants that reside outside Madras, the
admission is done on the basis of an Eligibility certificate issued by the
university for the above purpose. The applicants from overseas need to have a
valid visa along with formal education in the subject concerned for admission
to the respective courses.
